We ran a sewing program for many years, and from 2021 to 2023, using the CDC building and their sewing machines in San Pedro. But in 2023, the Government wanted to take over the program, so we stopped working there.
This was a wonderfully successful program in Mezcala from 2021 to 2023.
This was one of our first programs, but we found it difficult to teach the participants how to read a pattern. We tried numerous ways but they told us because they hadn't attended much school, they couldn't follow instructions (whether they were written down or in pictures). So to raise funds we make dishcloths to sell.
We held classes in 2020 on encouraging and teaching the traditional dances that were once common in the area, but had been forgotten. So they are no longer forgotten - this is from November 2024.
